Many of you know that I have carried a vision for many years that has been the driving force of my life. I did and still do believe that vision was from God and those to whom I have shared the vision believe the same. Proverbs16:9 states, “The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
How I interpret that vision and how God plans for the vision to be accomplished seem to be very different. Much has changed but what has not changed is that as a child of God and disciple of Christ, I still have the commission that Christ gave the disciples:
Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 ]Go therefore into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Teach them to observe all that I commanded you; and These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28: 16-20 and Mark 16:15-18
So with the help of a few others, Joe Branch, Lori Peppers, Shancrea Fulwood, and Susan Reed, we are going to do just that. Our focus group had been those who have experienced life-altering difficulties due to incarceration and/or substance abuse. However, in this new world we find ourselves in, most of us feel we have been incarcerated and those who have experienced substance abuse in the past may feel that their abusive behavior is completely out of control and has migrated to other areas beyond drinking too much, smoking too much or an angry outburst. How do we deal with all of the emotional tumult going on inside. How do we release the pressure without exploding like a volcano?
First YOU must be willing to work on the emotions and attitudes yourself. Then you join with others who are working to maintain their sanity during periods of high stress. Each person must find their own avenue. We are but one. Our focus is to bring seekers into a deep relationship with their Maker. If you KNOW who you are, who you belong to and that you DO have a greater purpose that merely dealing with the stress of life, life can become an adventure rather than a nightmare. We are on a journey to the High Places where the God who created us wants to teach us how to live in His Presence and then take His Presence (in us) to our family, friends, community, places of employment, and anyone who crosses our path. Won’t you join us?
